the experiment put to the test, today...
in about 25 minutes i'll be submitting my "delete facebook account" request to the zuckerberg-god. i have no qualms about doing this. i've contemplated it for a couple of weeks now. and since announcing publicly on my actual facebook page yesterday that i was going to do it, there has been no resurgence of emotions that make me think i'm making a mistake. i feel good about this.
i don't feel good physically today though. which is too bad because i have a great opportunity to go out and do something totally different than i normally do and be social in real life! the big, Google Plus UC Berkeley Photo Stroll is happening this evening at 6pm. I mean, I don't have anything else planned. It's just that I sort of feel like crap today. I didn't sleep good. I am starving but don't feel like eating, so I am weak and don't think that if I eat it's going to make me feel any sort of sustained equilibrium of strength.
and my mood is wishy-washy because my birthday is tomorrow. i bought a ticket to go to tomorrow night's Giant's baseball game, but i'll be doing that alone. going to the Photo Stroll today, i'll be going alone. don't know any one there. there are two "internet faces" i may recognize but they are not people i've ever met in person. only online. so it's not like we're buddies and will decide to spend the evening walking around together. one of those people is the leader of the entire get-together tonight... i mean, i'd be able to strike up conversation with strangers there. that's no problem. it's just that how i feel right now it's the kind of thing i could easily decide to just stay home.
contrarily, just to get out of the house my alternative plan is to at least go to the cemetery in Piedmont. and i figure that if i at least make it there, i could accomplish a lot of things today. i could do a lot of photography and a lot of thinking, and a lot of writing. it could be a very good day doing things i normally do. but it would be a sad day because i would be missing this great opportunity to "do something new and different", especially since it supports my whole, quitting facebook strategy and getting out there to meet and interact with real people. hanging out alone in a cemetery, i might as well just stay signed into facebook, eh??
i'll report back later and let you know what i did...
