my final days...

as a 40 year old are coming to a close this weekend. yes, that means that in 4 days i will cross the divide into the realm of those that have survived half a century of life on this planet. it actually seems like an accomplishment to me. that i have overcome the obstacles of illness, misfortune, poverty, and just plain ol' bad luck in getting to stay alive this long. and hey, i still have a pretty face, my original teeth, a full head of hair, have never broken a bone in my body, have never been stabbed or shot at with a gun, have never fallen off a cliff or been in a serious automobile accident... yeah, i've walked pretty gracefully through this lifetime. i've always felt like i've been accompanied by a few angels in this life.
