how the concert(s) went...

Well, I had a very excellent time at the concert I went to on Wednesday night. I was on the guest-list for Spindrift and was given a special wristband to wear that allowed me access to all areas of the club. I didn't go backstage though as the band members I was familiar with were hanging out around the merch table.

Unfortunately, the opening performer started his set late and Spindrift, respectfully played a shorter set than planned so that the remaining bands had full time to play. This was unfortunate as it did not seem that Spindrift ever really got fully into their psychedelic groove. And I heard later that Vietnam, the 3rd band to play didn't get into their groove either. I thought Vietnam rocked though. Definitely my fav performers of the night.

A lot of people were friendly with me this night. Chaz, a young man doing security at the front door chatted with me out front before the doors opened. Henry, the young fella that plays the double guitar for Spindrift was very friendly (well, he is the one that granted me the free admission to the show). A young woman named Ginny that I stood next to at the front of the stage from Vietnam's performance through to the end of The Black Angel's performance commented to me several times about the performers. I gave her my card so that she could find my photos. Also, another young person chatted with me between bands about the performers. I didn't catch his name though.

Since I didn't have to pay for a ticket to the show I decided to use the money I would have spent on a ticket on some merch. I bought Spindrift's cd and a poster (which the entire band signed for me), and I also bought a very cool Vietnam t-shirt.

I was pretty exhausted by the time I got home (around 1:15am) and stopped at Safeway for a late night snack (sushi!). This turned out to be a poor decision as I awoke six hours later with really bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. It was bad, man. I basically spent the next three days in bed sleeping deeply as if I had the flu. And yes, that means that I DID NOT attend the Lacuna Coil show on Friday night. I could not even get it together enough to sit at the computer and offer my ticket up on Craigslist. A crying shame.

Well, there is the Dirk-Fest show this week to look forward to. Click the photo above to see my other photo sets from Wednesday's show.
