M-V-O-C

I am by no means an astrologer, but I love learning new things about how to interpret (my own, primarily) astrological charts. I've been curious about astrology for several decades and have my own chart interpreted by qualified astrologers when I've had questions about important decisions I've been faced in my life. There are a lot of people that offer classes on becoming an astrologer online, but for the way my brain works, I don't think a class would be enough. I may have the best setup already. My best friend is an accomplished astrology student and she offers me free consultations and lessons whenever I have questions for her.

So today we were discussing astrology (barely a day goes by in which we do not do this) and I happened to stumble across an aspect of astrology that she had not really studied before.

It's this thing called MOON VOID OF COURSE (M-V-O-C). Basically, there are rare times when the moon does not fully reside inside of an astrological sign. Most of the time the moon is moving through a sign, and then moves into the next sign... So the moon just moved from Capricorn into Aquarius... these transitions typically take a few days to complete. The rare thing that happens is that sometimes the moon will finish it's journey through a sign, but then there will be a gap of time (anywhere from a few hours up to a full day) where the moon will be outside of a sign. This is what is called Moon Void Of Course.

So my friend and I researched and found calendars that predict when MVOCs will occur, and we saw that a rather lengthy one was happening today (it began at 7:11am this morning and just now ended at 9:31pm). What has been detrmined by the most highly knowledgeable astrologers is that it's not advisable to do important work during MVOC. Like, don't sign contracts, and do not begin a new project... it's ok to work on a project already in progress, and/or to do recreational activities with loved ones, or to REST... but the energy of the moon is unfocused during this time and can cause things to not go as well as you would like them to. (For me just learning about this yesterday, this is an extremely simple interpretation).

What I decided to do today was NOT work on anything new. I held off on writing this blog entry until the MVOC ended, and I did not do any tarot card readings today either. Part of why I chose not to read cards during this phase was because my best friend did a reading for someone a few days ago DURING a MVOC phase, and the information she revealed to her client was almost the exact opposite of what the cards predicted. Living and learning, that's what this is all about...

Okaaaay, so where this got even more interesting for me just a few hours ago was that I realized that I was BORN during an MVOC, and combined with that I learned that my moon sign (Aries) was at 29 degrees. For those of you readers that do not understand astrology I appologize for throwing out complex concepts like this without intent to teach you clearly what it all means... I'm going to continue and just summaraize...

29 degrees of ANY sign or planet is considered to be a critical stage (there are only 30 degrees of any planet or sign to occupy). What 29 degrees of criticalness manifests as for the moon in someone's birth chart is an indicator of someone being unable to find direction in their life. When I heard this, my heart sank into my boots. All of these 60+ years I've been trodding this planet I've been wrecked by aimlessness and the inability to "find my calling", and to complete anything I've set out to accomplish. I mean, in one way this is a welcome bit of information because now I have an explanation for why my life has been difficult in the matters of knowing who I am and of why I've never been able to find the perfect match for what I'm supposed to be doing in the world, but on the other hand this news feels like a curse was put upon me. Also, why have I not heard this bit of info from any of the other astrologers I've consulted during my life.

My first reaction to this info was a deep pang of sadness in my heart. You want to know the truth with the hope that the truth will set you free. I'm going to do my best to resist dwelling on things in the past that I cannot change, but I'll survey my life with the hope of better understanding how to move forward and find a way to make this information work for me. I might come back and talk more about this as new revelations come to me.

(Oh, just a quick note about some other thoughts that ran thru my mind this afternoon... 29th degree, I was born on September 2 (9.2) ... my mom was born on 9.2 1929... I might look into the numerlogical interpretations of these numbers too... and I hope that with this new knowledge of when upcoming MVOCs will occur, I'll be able to avoid mishaps from attempting critical activities when the moon does not support them...)

You are a resilient, courageous person, Daryl. To learn something about yourself that is dismaying and then vow to find a way to make it work for you,
that is brave and admirable!
