countdown

Less than 5 days until I leave to visit my grandkids in Fargo. I was supposed to see them last September, but due to a last minute health crisis I was unable to make the trip there to see them then. So now it's just about 2 years since the last time I got to spend time with them. I feel like they have gone through so many changes since I last saw them, growth and maturity, you know how it goes, I fear that they won't seem like the sweet young kids they were back then... I know that's not something I really have to worry about, but it is still 2 years of growth they've lived through that I did not get to witness closely.

Another thought is, I can't seem to remember anything specific about what I did during the summer of 1976. The memory tag that should hold significant pictures for me is that it was the 200th anniversary of America/4th of July... I have possibly one thin memory that I might have spent a week or two at Mount Herman Conference center in the Santa Cruz mountains... as a prelude before starting attending Pepperdine University in September. I might have that memory... but it's not solid. And there are no other memories of attending any celebration for the holiday. Could be that I just did not go to celebrations like that back then, just the same as I never have ever since then either. Memory is such an unreliable tool...

I just finished watching yet another well written television series (made by Apple) called Widow's Bay. It's a combination of Steven King meets John Carpenter. It started off with some dark/black comedic intonations, which I was really excited to see. It's pretty rare for well written comedic scenes to blend into horror/supernatural stories... They tried a few times to keep the humor in tact, but it was never as sharp as it was in the opening episodes. And now the season ends with a cliff hanger and we have to wait for the next season to be filmed.

Next I'm going to give Apple's CAPE FEAR a shot...

Hmm, after looking at this trailer I'm not so sure... DeNiro as Max Caddy is a hard act to follow....
