Friday FTW...

Let's open today's post with a couple of covers of a different song, by someone different by King Crimson. I was a little saddened to see that I could only find 2 different cover versions of this particular, favorite song by Todd Rundgren. It's called Zen Archer...

Wished that the first video, the guitarist sang the song too... but then the incredible vocals of the guy playing the piano made up for it. Not being a musician, I'm not sure why there aren't more efforts by musicians to cover this song. Maybe its too difficult, or maybe it's just not as well known... if I were a musician, I'd sure love to do a cover of it!!

I'm pretty sure that I've commented earlier in this blog about the effect this song has to stir my soul. I cannot think of ever listening to it without feeling my heart chakra burst open and make me cry ferociously. The lyrics combined with the composition... anyway, it is what it is, and I'm not sure what else I want to talk about today.

This is another video I saw today, and liked. This is my best friend Scarlett having an encounter on Mount Wanda, in Martinez, California with THE HUGEST LOCAL SNAKE SPECIMEN i've ever seen evidence of in this local area. And she's standing there wanting to pick it up!! Can you see why I love her so much!! I would have jumped out of my skin if I saw a snake that big!!

So, somedays just feel mundane. That's kinda how today went for me. Still in transition mode from the previous dog sitting house, and now in this next house, which feels much more "lived in" to me. I feel more "myself" here than I did in the other house. These dogs don't need to go for walks, they have a big back yard and love to "fetch", so I just have to play ball with them throughout the day for their exercise. Fine with me!! The homes where the owners supposedly "insist" that their dogs be walked 4-8 miles a day are the ones that wear me out. And then when I give them evidence of how far I actually walked them, at the end of the job they exclaim that the dogs are going to miss me (because I walk them more than the owners actually do). Whatever, the exercise is good for me, even if I end up sore and achy from it all.

I've got a stack of new books that I'm trying to decide about which to read next...

I have a couple of titles by Peter Straub I might read. One is JULIA, and the other is a short story compilation called THE JUNIPER TREE. I've never read him before, so I do not know what I think about him, other than respecting him as a legendary horror fiction writer.

Another title on my list is BLACKWATER: THE COMPLETE CASKEY FAMILY SAGA, by Michael McDowell... I just have to open these books, read a chapter or two to see how they hook me.

Then there's another new author to me, Roger Zelazny and his, SHADOWS AND REFLECTIONS, an anthology of stories by him. And a novel called, FOR A BREATH I TARRY.

Last new title up for consideration is THE SHADOW OF THE TORTURER, by Gene Wolfe.

I get these suggestions from youtube book reviewers. It's the way I've been finding all the new literature I've been checking out. It's how I found DONALD RAY POLLOCK!

But the book I actually have open and am sussing out right now is THE GLASS BEAD GAME, by Hermann Hesse. I feel a lot of respect for him as a writer/thinker, but DEMIAN is pretty much all I've read by him. And SIDDHARTHA, of course.

So I haven't mentioned last night's channeling session yet, have I? Or did I? Not in this post... but maybe a previous post I did?
