time to turn the tide, unselfishness off!

recent readers, i just have one bit of personal news to share with you; i got an email from Helen last night. more about that later.

Today is a special day in the blogosphere, a day in which I want to make tribute to the power of writers meeting randomly, supporting each other, and overcoming adversity.

Many of my long term readers will remember that I was given an interview at a prestigious literary website called Litpark by the magnanimous Susan Henderson. You will also recall that the launch of my music photography and music journalism careers were launched by the boldly vociferous Robin Slick. Well, these two women are friends with another writer/author/blogger named Patry Francis.

Patry has written a book thats paperback version goes on sale today. The book is called THE LIARS DIARY. Why am I bothering to tell you about this? Because today has been organized as a day to blitz the Internet with word of mouth promotion to increase the sales of this book. And it has been organized by friends of Patry that she met via the Internet and blogs. The reason this is so important is because a few months ago Patry was diagnosed with cancer and she is recovering from surgery right now.

I'm part of this family now, this network of writers that encourage and support each other and feel that they are part of what pushes me on to believe that I too will one day have my book published. So anyway, rather than repeat details of the information of Patry's ordeals, I'll link to her site and other bloggers writings about her where you can get the full gist of what her book is about and how she got to be where she is today.

In closing, I encourage you if you are a writer or aspire to become a writer, get involved with other writers on the Internet. It IS important to network and create friendships with others that have gone the path that you are going. And these people will be an encouragement when you most need someone to urge you to keep doing that task that is so difficult. The world is a much different place today than it was even just 10 years ago. There are people out there that care. And you can meet them. Be bold. Speak up. Introduce yourself and share your dream.
