crazy year ALREADY!
(if you are reading this in your email, please come to the website to view all enhancements; http://dylanbarrett.blogspot.com)
it's only the 13th of January and i'm having the best year i've had in an extraordinarily long time. i tell you, stopping using those meds last year was the best decision i've made in a very long time. its like i suddenly woke up one day and found that i have secretly manifested the careers i've always wanted; photographer and writer.
staying active creatively is the best medicine for me to overcome depression. that, and not getting emotionally involved with other people. by that i mainly mean not getting involved with women that i want more from than they are willing to give. (and i don't mean sex by saying that. what turns me on more than sex is emotional intimacy.) i need to find a woman to be friends with that equally wants to be friends with me. maybe through following this blazing path of creation in art i will become more refined and will turn into an object of desire.
anyway, projects abound. i'm a regular writer for Ground Control Magazine now and i have what seems like an unending supply of people that want to model for me. i have already photographed so many new "Cemetery Girls" in the past 5 months i easily have enough material to publish a book with (or do an exhibit with). yet my hunger to go deeper into this vision still burns. i stated to someone this past week that maybe the project will feel complete when i find that one model that most perfectly matches the my vision of the girl from my novel. i actually want to start shooting some younger, teenage models for this project. under 18s are hard to get though. i have 3-4 girls that i am in negotiations with. the importance of younger models for this vision though, is that my novel's character is only 16 years old.
otherwise, i am also starting to do promo work shooting bands. i shot my second band yesterday and will be shooting a third two weeks from now. also, i've gotten in touch with some professional models that want to model for me; they specialize in "Pin Up" fashions and want to be "Cemetery Girls".
on the writing front i have my column at Ground Control now, several album reviews are online and I've just started doing interviews. i need to get two of these finished today and sent to my editor.
these are the photos from the first band shoot; San Francisco prog-metal band, GRAYCEON. They are playing in San Francisco tonight at Bender's; 5pm for $5! The next band i'm shooting; Cormorant are playing in San Jose tonight too. I'd love to go to both/either of these shows. if there was someone to with i might. CALL ME if you want to go!

Congratulations on all the creative fulfillment that seems to be flowing for you these days. It is truly the key to happiness as far as I'm concerned.
To follow up on your thoughts about a new kind of romance, have you seen the 'vocationally aroused' video of the ideas Barbara Marx Hubbard has been talking about? I put it on my blog - it's on my latest Beauty Dialogues
post.
I LOVE your cemetery series!!! Wonderful models! What's the cemetery where were the latest ones taken? There are some great stones there it looks like... I want to go!!!
I definitely still want to do some photo shoots with you sometime soon if you have the time, with all these demands and models (I need a model! How do you do it, Daryl?).
What about the Colma cemetery? I hear it's a good one.
Anyway, dear. So happy to hear life is good for you right now.
Are you doing anything at DVC? I'm taking an advanced PhotoShop class that I know will be good, and I just like to keep my hand in there - it's a brilliant school as far as I'm concerned.
Love to you!
