nanowrimo contemplation...

Oh me, oh my... it's that time of year again, when i get so excited and so focused and so productive, and sit in cafes with my head down and my fingers pounding heavily. it's the time when i'm most strongly imbued with the muse of creativity. and i'm always amazed, on a daily basis at what i'm able to conjure up with my inner dialogue. it's an addiction and it is something that i abuse with wreckless abandon... sadly never ending with sitting down the next month to do a once over editing/rewriting what i conjured up...

So I had two chances to write more for my story/novel earlier this year when nanowrimo had two other months of writing; April and July. and i did sit down and started writing, but i was unable to stay focused, and gave up before each month ended. the quandary i ran into was that I was freezing up with ideas and inspiration about how to continue with the log jam i had created with my character telling her story. it was creative failure, for sure. it's weird too because i'm able to tap into this creative energy that will flow words and story out of my heart/mind/spirit/muse and i can get 1,666 words a day spewed out, but if they end up not being productive in a good way (for the story) i end up writing myself into a corner, or canyon, or one way street where things fall flat. i'll admit that i got scared too, of what i knew had to happen in the story. it was hard for me to be brave enough to make the things happen that i wanted to have happen. this is an issue that i must force myself to deal with.

One thought that i've been having is to just stop writing "that part" of the story, for now at least, and start up creating a whole new section of the story. The Story of Lianna...  it's definitely a cop out because i'm really tempted to stop telling the story that Ashiling has been telling - just abandon it, and let Lianna start to tell it from her pespective. Lianna is another, what boils down to a "sequel"... part 3 of the story of the O'Neills from Ohio...  which in some ways i see as being rather genius....
