ghost hunting, expedition #3

Okay, so a few days passed before we returned to Alamo Cemetery to do another Echovox session. She came to my house to pick me up right after she got off work. We got there a little bit earlier, maybe an hour or so so that we could have more time before the heaviness of darkness fell. I had made a visit to the cemetery on last Friday night, one night after our first session. I stopped at Safeway in downtown Alamo and bought 4 votive prayer candles and brought them to the cemetery. It was around 1am. This is an old tradition of mine from the days when I used to literally camp out in this cemetery. There are just 4 graves that I chose to take candles to, the same 4 graves that I've always taken candles to. I'd take more for more people if I could afford to. If I could afford to I'd take a candle to everyone's grave that is buried there. I'd make that my life. To have my mind organized in such a way that I'd know my cemetery so well that I could take candles to everyone on their birthdays and also on their death anniversaries. If I win the lotto someday, I'll find a local cemetery somewhere new to live and I'll honor the dead amiably.

I felt the need arise to do this act of respect when we left the cemetery after the previous session, especially because of what we thought we heard at dear Kirsta's grave. I felt bad that I had abandoned visiting her for such a long time and I wanted to do something to let all the spirits know that we were coming back and that we wanted them to feel loved. It was strange walking through the deep silent darkness of the cemetery at this hour, after not doing it for such a very long time. A year? Since I last brought candles for them? Maybe not that long, but long enough that it felt like a year. The thing though is that I felt an edgy sense of fearfulness. Not for fear of seeing anything. I've never really seen unknown things in the cemetery before, but now I'm going to start to consider opening up my consciousness more for it. I think it felt like I could have seen things this night, since we started to open up our minds with the Echovox. I moved through the cemetery quickly with the placing of the candles, and did not linger to chat with with them like I used to. Perhaps I was tired.. but I think more so I was edgy with fear. Respectful fear.

Ok, on to the session of October 6th, 2014. Gosh, looking at that date written down now it makes me realize that my dad's birthday was on the day before, and even though I spent that afternoon in a different cemetery I did not really do anything special to reach out to my father. No candle ceremony for him. No meditative time alone to try to communicate with him. I had thoughts of putting up the link to my book that I wrote about him on my facebook page, but I failed even to do that. And then this whole event w/my friend, no thoughts about him came up at all. It's 40 years since he died. What a crime that I've lived so much longer than he lived.

Now, I promise; ghost hunting notes!

We started at Kirsta's grave to let her know that we really felt sorry for neglecting her. We lit incense and only let the Echovox run for about 5 minutes, long enough to determine that the unfriendly chatter we heard here last time was not still happening. And it wasn't. There was not a lot of very clear voice interaction though either. Here is what I wrote down but rereading it is not stirring specific recall. "Work", "eyes", "from whose", "death", "come (here) -- i added the "here" to intuitively finish the phrase, and then we we decided to walk away we heard "bye".

We next went to Grant's grave and lit up the dhoop. Here are the words I made note of; "Hello", and for the first time to clearly feel personally identified by the spirits, we heard my name "Daryl", "YEAH" - strongly/clearly, "blank book" -- the notebook I was writing in, "written", "gift", "knowledge", "urn" -- which made my friend bring up the question of whether Grant was cremated. I told her he was and that he would have an urn buried in the ground right there... "buried", "deep" (not dhoop, ha!), "shape".

Then we decided to move to the Fereria's grave. We totally bypassed going to Tara's grave, not even to peek to see if her candle was still burning. Weird, but we were anxious about finishing up our session before total darkness consumed the place. Well, also, Tara did not utter many words. We thought partly because of the closeness to the street (on the other side of the fence). Okay, the word list.. From now on capitalization means that the word was LOUD and CLEAR.. "YES", "HAT" -- perhaps that I was wearing a hat?, "DARK" -- which now makes me think that maybe they know my nickname - Darko?, "earth", "dust", "many/mary"?, "un-", "listen", "what?"-- question mark means it sounded like a question, "no", "yep", "mortician", "evil", "bell-e", "HI!", "FALL", "out"... and "out"/"leave" are our clues that they want us to move on, and we did.

Now another word we heard while sitting with the Fereria's we heard the word "wood" quite a few times, and looking around we wondered if they were referring to "wood" as in "trees", but we figured it out. In totally clear sight we could see a row of tombstones with the name "WOOD" etched upon them. The family plot of the Wood Family, and I stated that there was one grave there in particular that I used to bring candles to, that grave of a notable citizen of Danville, Charlotte Wood - who was a renowned school teacher. She lived into her 90s and died in 1961. Follow the hyperlink for more info about her. We moved over to her grave and sat there for awhile listening. Note, all this time we kept the Echovox running and there is a long recording that I'll share below.

Words at the Wood plot; "school", "WOOD" - many, many, many times, "antlers" -- many times too and now the meaning of ANTLER explained (again) - this is for now what we believe the spirits are using to identify my friend by because of the deer head tattoo on her neck - we have not heard them call her by her real name...... hmmmmm, and I wonder if that could be a clue they are giving her because of the confusion about what her legal name really is right now. She has some legal business she must complete in regards to her name and she's been putting it off for quite a long time now. haha, she'll kick me when she reads this ;)  Continuing with words; "elk", "God", then right away "OUT", "NOW", "STOP"... so we started to walk away and heard "Girl", "church", "foot", "dirt", and finally "DEAD".

We went to the fenced in plot of the German family, since we had been hearing words that sounded German. Now it was my friend that mainly picked up on the German words, and she deduced that it was because of her musical ear, that she has an affinity for languages. She was hearing German articles mainly, like "und", "auch", "eine", but also the identifier German kept coming up too. For some reason those folks want some attention. I've always found their graves to be attractive, nice carvings of their gravestones. And theres is one of only two plots that have a fence surrounding their plot in the cemetery. And there were more words in English here too...  "LOVE!", my friend asked "where are you from?" and we thought we heard the name "Oregon", more than once. Also, "October" was said fully for the first time (remember all the OCTs before?), then in closing while walking away we heard "come again", and "I'm dead". We decided that "I'm dead" might turn out to be a common phrase that we'd hear often...

We walked up the hill and found something truly shocking. An extremely old, large, beautiful oak tree had been cut down. It must have happened sometime recently during the summer months but it had been so long since I'd been in the cemetery who knows exactly how long ago. I'll post some photos below of what we saw now, and what the tree looked like before.

We walked by Callie's grave to check her candle. It was still burning. I felt drawn to visit the grave of a very young woman that died in Danville back in the 1800s, her name is Helen and I've felt a drawing to her grave a lot over the years. At this grave we heard chatter, but nothing distinct. At this point we discussed the matter of the difficulty logic of hearing things from the "long dead" compared to the "recent dead" and decided to seek out some "recently deceased" graves. There is an apartment of niches on the very top of the cemetery where "recently deceased" occupants reside. We checked the dates and chose the most recent, and hung with her for awhile. Her name is Dorothy White (1-13-2012). The voice turned loud, but was unclear. We stayed for awhile because of the strengthening of her voice, and decided that we'd return to see her again.

Then we decided to start to move out of the cemetery as darkness was really starting to fall quickly. I wanted to check out the northern side of the grounds because it's an area I've neglected a lot in the past. She led the way and took us to a plot right next to the northern edge fence. It was a couple buried next to each other with a glowing hummingbird night light. There names are Gerald and Mary Jervis - one of them died in 2009. Now there was a, what do you call it when there is a "sign"? She saw a young buck on the other side of the fence in a field. Deer are her spirit animals. We sat with the couple for a good while, listening. Nothing fantastic revealing but this is what we did hear... "Fact", "mommie", "car" - a car DID drive by, "October", "help me", "hello", "death", and "young".

And that was about it. We left right after that...
