more people JUST SAY NO to meds!

If you are one of my bipolar readers, check out this entire article. this is mind blowing information - especially if you live in/near San Francisco. I will put a link to the Icarus Project in my blog-roll. If you are one of my friends reading this, please read the entire article, I plead with you. This information is like gold to be able to understand what it is I am going through.

Good article. Traditional pschiatrists are definitely too one dimensional. And I would love to be med-free one day. But in the meantime it's not an EITHER/OR decision for me.

I never take my meds. Of course, I can't find a competent pdoc or tdoc that can even diagnose me properly. I'm on my 3rd tdoc right now and her main goal is to "get me off disability". I don't have a problem with that, but in order for that to occur you have to actually help me first. That, she has failed to do. I had to almost cuss my pdoc out in order to get him to take me off the anti-psychotics after repeatedly telling him that it was making me sick. No one listens to us. They give us pills so we'll sleep all day. I guess if we sleep all day we won't need to think...unfortunately you have to think in order to live...so we're not really living (my views of course). Mental health has been going down the tubes for years and I have a feeling it's only going to get worse.

Daryl,
Nice to meet you. It was good to read this article. I used to live in San Francisco and have talked to Matthew Morissey from Full Spectrum on the phone. I am so bummed that it closed down. That is so depressing. Funding for alternatives is zero. Are you familiar with Soteria House?

We need thousands of such programs.
It's always good to hear from a kindred spirit. It gives me hope for my own withdrawal.

Thanks for stopping by my site.
