Happy Birthday CLIVE BARKER, pt. ii


here is the blessing that Clive wrote upon my working manuscript. i meditate on these thoughts every time i sit down to work on my novel. i told him that i would not come to see him at an event again until i had a copy of my novel to give him as a gift. alas, he will be signing his newest book in L.A. in two months and i so badly want to see him. i am not sure what i will do.

Very cool inscription! Thank you for sharing your Clive stories with me. He really is a great man. When I worked with him and met him at HorrorHound, it was right before he was getting more surgery for his throat, so he really had no voice and even though his managers were telling him to not speak, he spoke to every single fan for days. It was pretty amazing.

Glad to meet another Clive devotee!

Sometimes I hate the laws of karma that bind me to this reality so much. I hate living in a place that suffers this heat in the summertime so badly too and would gladly pay in slave labor to be able to live in Santa Cruz, or some other affable place near a pleasant seashore that would soothe my body... and my soul. I don't know why I'm not allowed to live in Santa Cruz. When Billy and I became able to live there from 1995 to 1998 it was like we had won a huge lottery, like I had worked my way out of an enormous prison sentence and I was given a liberty to experience freedom from the previous 35 years of junk-karma I had created for myself.
