just another Wednesday, sitting in a cafe...

I really felt like I could come here (in my blog) and write everyday, when I said that last week, but due to a job I had, which I'll speak a little bit about here, I felt incapable of focusing enough to write, anything. So I make extra money on the side doing "gig jobs". I primarily work for Door Dash, which I find highly enjoyable to do. The work feels so freeing, emotionally and structurally, I only work when I want to. For a slacker like me, it's such a perfect job. And I can literally make money instantly. I just finished working a 3 hour shift today (lunchtime) and made $50 which I instantly deposited into my bank account.

The other gig job I do is pet sitting and dog walking. I did this for about a month until I became fed up with it. The pay is low, VERY low in comparison, and the stress level is VERY HIGH. The job I had this weekend, was taking care of 3 very adorable dogs in the house of an old high school friend. The community was under a severe weather warning all weekend though. High winds were threatening the outbreak of wildfires. Three fires broke out in nearby towns. We lost power at the house, and cell service went down too. The stress of being responsible for the lives of these dogs, and having to make decisions about what to do in regards to the house, if there had been an evacuation order was HIGH. Way too much stress for my taste, for only being paid $50 a day. And that's also because this client paid me straight. I get most of my pet sitting clients thru an app called Rover and I only get paid $32 a day from them. On top of this, I really don't like sleeping in the houses of strangers. I love my own bed and bedroom. I suffer from a bad sleep routine as it is, but at least when I'm in my own bed I'm the most comfortable that I can be. And I'm not controlled by the strange demands of the routines and schedules of dogs, haha. So I've pretty much decided to stop doing pet sitting. Except maybe for friends. This client, as I said was an old friend, and she paid me well, considering. I have two more dates set with her.

Soo, sitting in a cafe reminds me of the fact that Nanowrimo begins in 2 days. What do I think about that? I'm not sure. I certainly have not been building up any plan to write this year. But distantly in the recesses of my mind I know I should be writing. Nanowrimo is hugely stressful though. And without having some semblance of an objective in mind, it's really hard to open up a blank document and crank out 1,660 words a day. Even with an objective in mind, that's a hard task to fulfill. So I don't know what I'm going to do. Write, or not write. Or get back into rewriting, yet again. But, being free of the stress of doing any other pet sitting assignments really does give me some of the freedom of my life back. I mean, I might even make a drive up Mt. Diablo in the next couple of days! Also, I might even do a PHOTO SHOOT with a MODEL soon!!
