drowning didn't kill Rasputin either...

The dream began with me realizing that I was in a very dark place that reminded me of when I was in the town of Limerick, in Ireland. It was a cold month and I had been drinking a lot. So I was genuinely depressed. The vision I recall is of wearing my long, woolen overcoat and standing next to the Shannon River and I realized how easy it would be to just fall forward over the short wall, down into the water. Unnoticed. and that it would be days before my drowned body would be found.

In the dream this morning, I was dressed in the same overcoat, the sky was dark, possibly raining, and I fell over a wall into a river. There was no struggle of any sort to save myself. I accepted my fate. Then something occurred to me. I don't think that I was the force that pushed me in. And I also realized that my arms and legs were bound and that I could not flounder to save myself. I was laying flat on my back on the surface of the water, yet slowly started to sink down. I closed my eyes and accepted my fate. I also closed my mouth to hold my breath.

The darkness increased as I came closer to the bottom of the river bed. I came to a stop. and rested. It was like, "Now I can fall truly asleep." But rather than fully accept that fate I did the thing that is most normal when one finds themselves in such a situation. You try to take one more breath. A gasp. And when I did this i found that there was something covering my face (which also added to the darkness effect). But when I made that gasping inhale I felt air enter my lungs, and when I exhaled the breath started to fill the thing that was covering my face. It was like a sack, or balloon almost. It started to fill up with my breath, and once there was enough air in the sac it started to elevate my head from the bottom of the river. So I kept breathing into it and before I knew it my entire body had started to float to the surface of the water.

Once my face broke the surface I saw with my eyes that there was a man running along the river wall and his eyes caught my eyes and before I knew it he dived over the edge of the wall into the river. I thought, to save me. Turns out that there was another man drowning more seriously than I was and he wanted to save him first. "I'll get you in a minute, ok man?" As I recall, I didn't need his help. I became able to free myself of my binds and could climb up the ladder up the wall to the sidewalk.

There were police there that questioned the other man about what had happened, but they did not seem to notice me, or care that much about me, or even think that anything bad had happened to me. This actually makes me wonder if they even saw me at all.

Then, someone did see me. Asked me if I needed to talk about what had happened. That I should come inside to talk to a counselor. I walked into what I thought was the police building and felt nervous as to whether someone was going to charge me with a crime. I could see jail cells along the hallway and felt a leaning of my body, like someone's mind was pushing me toward the cells and that they were going to force me to enter one. I kept walking straight though and had a feeling that i needed to escape this place before someone really did choose to lock me up, even though I was unaware of anything wrong that I had done.

So I kept walking down the hallway and found a door at the end. Opened it and went into a dark labyrinthine hallway that actually made me feel like I was imprisoned. Guilt started to flood my mind, not over any specific issues, but maybe it was just mixed with confusion and I could only sense that I had done something wrong and I needed to be, and was being punished. Panic escalated and I ran to escape, to find a way out.

The hallway I was going down ended and there was a small stairway that led up to a door. I tried it and it opened out onto what looked like an airstrip. It was darkest night now and the ground was wet from rain. I saw a couple of other people, women, that looked like they had freed themselves too and I encouraged them to run, to get away.

What really alerted me to warn them to run was what I saw happening in the sky. There were huge lights exploding in the sky and there were large aircraft maneuvering about. Not normal military aircraft, futuristic equipment that moved in abnormal directions and paths. So the dream took on a bit of a sci-fi feel. I knew what these things were though. They were intelligentsia devices that could read the behavior patterns in peoples minds and bodies and if there were trace evidence of laziness or nonproductive notions in someone, punishment was required.

And this is how they would enforce it. I was standing inside an electrified field that could make sensory determinations of my worth. I knew there was no way out, because in my own mind I knew I was guilty. A robotic device maneuvering on the side of the field set of signals; lights and sounds and pointed itself at me. Then it happened. It launched it's captivity chamber at me. This was a large metal device, square shaped and molten. when it reached my body it's metal was soft and was able to form adapt itself to my body. It was like a big locking frame that surrounded me. I can't give a visual description any better than to say i felt like i was wearing an "oven", and that there was no way to free myself of it.

Well, there was a way. If I had any ounce of productive spirit inside of myself, or any semblance of wanting to be a free man, there WAS a way that I could figure how to escape it. My only instinct was to tear at the device with all my strength before the molten metal had started to cool and solidify. And I did this. I wrestled like a mad man to tear the thing off me and I did damage it enough so that I became able to slip out of it. But the lights in the sky seemed like nuclear war. I was frightened for the citizens in the area that did not know better.

Ok, that was pretty much the whole of the dream. Gonna go to sleep now. Peace out.
