The scheme of the writing, that is it! Everything I have made as notes for my novel so far this year, that is what I want to use as the second level voice that i write my novel with. The voice that I think and scheme with, the voice that I make propositions with and that I explore options of ideas with as… god this is just more bullshit… A novel about writing a novel, well, why wouldn’t that work? Ok man, get clear on what is you mean here. You flounder around all over the place and this central idea gets weak… And when it does the whole thing falls apart. OH MAN HOW ABOUT THIS! Write your novel about (The Cemetery Suicides 8DARYLBARNETT). But then write the second voices tale separately? Like part two of the book? but that would be weird, who would be interested in reading an appendix after they read a story, unless the after-story was as, if not more interesting than what they had just read?
Now that could be something. The reader would get about halfway (or more) through all the pages of the text and finish the story, only to wonder what it was that could be filling the remainder of the pages of the book. You couldn’t just present this second section in a documentary sense though, that would be boring as hell. No, there must be a link. You can expand from parts of the story you just wrote (which the reader will suppose is entirely fictional – maybe with some real life inspiration). Ok, like you make references to a town where a well-known playwright lived, where there is a cemetery… the events that you created there are fictional. But now you go back to this town and reveal it as a real place. Where you lived, where you visited a cemetery. and where you spent bored winter evenings driving the streets looking for a girl from your anthropology class to just have a cup of chai with…
You can now tell the story of what you went through in the process of wanting to write this story. Of where you are in your life at this time, of what you have been, what you have done, where you have been, what you have wanted and what you have achieved. It can become a memoir. Will you still need a third voice? Can the third voice speak in the same section that the second voice speaks in or will it need to be separate in a third section?? OHOHOHOHOH!! Ok, the second section is fictional also about the creation of the story. Of what has happened in the past year of contemplation to create the story, yes? So this could still be a strongly fictional area.
But then the third section, that is the autobiography. Section One = Fictional tale of Danville, Section Two = Fictional tale of creation of Section One (which takes place in Danville), Section Three = Autobiographical memoir of my life in/and around Danville(all of which brought me to write the fiction of Section One). Be careful WOOOO HOOOO!!
Is listening to close to the edge, by YES right now the catalyst for what I have just realized in this blog entry? Maybe…? Well, I am very sure about the decision to purchase a laser printer to use to start printing off my doc files so that I can start to review them for editing. This is essential.
-= asides: had some rather disturbing realizations, if I really want to call them that today. one is a cycle in my life that may be coming to fruition in a short number of years. 1969 & 1989 were years in which dramatic experiences occurred in my life; first the death of my father and secondly the breakup of my marriage. That means that in 2009 I may experience another such dramatic/tragic experience? What I fear as a most tragic event would be the death of a relative. That is all that I will say. Well, let me say beyond this that I hope my projection is wrong. Maybe my time with Gurumayi did in fact burn patterns of karma out of my future and I will not have to suffer again what I have suffered already.
