neverending november newness

So I wrote enthusiastically for Nanowrimo for 12 whole days. I got good beginnings on 5 or 6 completely different storylines. Which was pretty much all that my focus was set on achieving. I still stand by using Write-Or-Die  as a magical method of awakening the inner muse. It somehow kicks me into a higher mental state where I don't have to overly, second by second think about what it is I want to write. By getting connected to this elevated state, be it intuition or genuinely the place where the muse dwells, words just flow out and I write things much more complex than I would write if I were to think with just my normal mind. I'm sure other people must experience something similar using this writing tool. Whether I'll return to these stories that I started or not depends on my ability to generate inspiration and discipline to reopen these documents and put determined energy into editing and expanding them. This is what I SHOULD do. We'll just see what transpires with ...

Nanowrimo - day 3 & 4

Day 3 Day 4

for Nanowrimo this year...

I'm going to do something I've never done before. I'm going to share my daily writings. I do not have a goal in mind of writing an actual "novel" this year. I'm just going to use the tool and platform of Nanowrimo as inspiration to get me writing every day. So, I will share what I write every day here. The following links are for the first two day's writings. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yglQ1PbtG1vwSVkXTfRrR0FB7MQZzi_Jx_xvLHy4cqU/edit?usp=sharing https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gNK9wFBhrur9CUMwT1oK0FN2hO32jpJSzwSU2vVAx1g/edit?usp=sharing

a hermit struggling to be part of a crowd...

I went out tonight to one of the two, monthly free Reiki clinics at HCH in Lafayette. It's my third time to attend there for the night time clinic. Tonight one of the Reiki masters that gave me my attunement was leading the clinic. She made me feel really welcome and even invited me to work with the practitioners giving Reiki to people who came for healing. I chose to wait to see how I felt after I received Reiki. I've been really consistent with giving myself daily self-healing sessions of Reiki. I don't think I've ever missed more than one day of self-treatment in the entire time since I was attuned back on August 13th. But there is something noticeably different about healing yourself and receiving Reiki from another person. At least I have noticed this from my own personal experiences. Sometimes the Reiki you receive from another person is very, very powerful. And sometimes it's not. (At least what you are consciously aware of feeling.) The last time I receive...

to warm up my fingers... i'm just going to tell a story (or two)

I'm not ready to break out my volumes of files and folders that contain all of my typewritten pages that make up my possibly great American novel, just yet. I'm going to need some warming up and ego building to give me confidence that I'm really ready to go back into that tempestuous struggle. So here's where my head is today. Last week I had an experience with my best friend that led me to think that what we had just gone through was good material for a short story. I've never been a good short story writer, have never really had much impetus to write short stories. and also have not read a lot of short stories... wow, the odds are so against me being good at following this lead of an idea. But it's not like I'm really writing them for anyone other than myself. I'm not writing them for a class or any contests. I just want to try writing them to get my storytelling juices flowing again. And maybe by starting to write some so-called short stories, I mig...
