end of week rant…

two things are pissing me off today. the main one is that BLACK SWAN is only playing in two theaters in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. that’s a two hour ride into and out of the city on BART and then fighting the odds that every other sad-sack like me that wants to see it tonight won’t be there in line too. why the hell do they build up all this hype to get EVERYONE to want to go see it and then choke us off? freaking ridiculous. the only thing i can figure is that it’s a ploy by the movie studios to get everyone excited about seeing a movie tonight/this weekend and then leaving us to go see something else, like 127 HOURS. i know i should go see 127 HOURS but i don’t know if i’m really up for it. i mean, i should man up and just do it. RIGHT?!

the other rant i have is about my cell phone company. they displeased me twice this week. firstly, they told me that i used over 5gb of data on my unlimited data plan and that for the rest of the current billing period they are going to “restrict data transfer speeds”. this has never happened before. i mean, i’ve probably used 5gb in a month before but i think it’s because they have now brought this 4G network on line and have a lot of new customers and want everyone to have a fair share of bandwidth to use. that’s what they told me when i called them asking for an explanation, anyway. 2nd part of this complaint with T-MOBILE is how long you have to wait on hold to get someone at Customer Support to answer the phone. 50 minutes on hold today. Ridiculous. they used to have 24 hour customer service too. now they turn the phones off from 9pm to 6am.

end of rant

so Nanowrimo ended 3 days ago and i haven’t figured out my new work plan yet. i am here at Peet’s Coffee right now, where i did a majority of the writing of the novel during the month, and i came tonight with the intent of blogging, and then picking up writing the novel where i left off. i haven’t reread the piece yet. not ready to, nor do i think i need to now. the important test that i have to pass right now is to see whether i can generate enough will and discipline to keep up the writing.

a summary, hmmm, it’s hard for me to give you a summary of what i’ve written and what i see that i still need to write without you knowing anything at all about this story. so i’ll say that i’m either half way done with the story, or i am a third of the way done with the story. i don’t think that what i’ve written so far is enough to deliver to my readers. i either have to write the remainder of the story first (which would contain another 50,000 words, if i were to do it properly), or wrap up what i’ve written now and just deliver it as “part i” of a larger story to be written later. i think the main thing for me to embrace right now is an attitude of not being in a hurry to deliver anything. it took two years to get “Cemetery Man” out in print. “Cemetery Girls” will be worth the wait, if I do it right.

what i will need though, are some close friends and associates who will be willing to read a draft of the novel because i would really like to try to get this volume into the hands of a real publisher. some authentic feedback will be so valuable. raise your hand if you’re interested and let’s talk, ok?

so yeah, i’ve decided the plan for the night. gonna write for the next two hours then buzz over to Cinearts in Pleasant Hill to see 127 HOURS. i am a man, not a mouse.
