what this new flow of Reiki energy is feeling like to me...
I've had influxes of so many different types of spiritual energies and belief systems infiltrate my mind and body in this lifetime, it sort of surprises me that I found yet another system to tap into. There is a lot of talk and hype going on around the world about the wonders of Reiki, but not so much that on it's own, it would have convinced me to seek out joining it on my own. If it had not been for the enthusiasm of my best friend, and her kindness, I probably would not have jumped into the boat with all the other Reiki-ers right now either. I'm not at a stage in my life where I'm all gung-ho about being a healer or getting healed right now. Not on the surface of my mind at least. Not in any sense of urgency or bubbling excitement like I have been at times in the past. Mind you, I do want to experience more joy in my life, and less pain in my body, and less confusion in my mind... And from what I've been experiencing with the self-application of Reiki energy so far, it does seem to help with these matters.
Reiki energy is quite subtle in comparison to say, something like the hustle and bustle of receiving kundalini awakening, for instance. That's according to my own memories of my experience of receiving shaktipat from Gurumayi Chidvilasananda back around 1990. That was like a high voltage electrical cable was stuck right into my sacral chakra! In comparison, Reiki energy feels like a very low wattage thin electrical wire was kinda nudged into place in my crown chakra. I have to fiddle with it sometimes to make sure it's still connected (moment's of doubt whether Reiki really works or not). It's just soft, and complacent, and has a mind of its own. You can give it direction, but that's about it. It has a mind of its own and does what it believes needs to be done at it's own pace.
I've received Reiki only a half dozen times or so over the past 25 years. I've never sought it out as a treatment for any sort of illness that I've suffered from. It's always been offered to me as a sample experience during a massage, or something like that. The most meaningful time I've gone to a session was last summer when I took my mom for a free treatment when her cancer was so advanced, I thought it might give her some relief from her discomfort. (Now that I've received level 1 attunement and know how strong the energy really is and how good it feels to give and receive it I wish I had gotten Reiki Attunement last year while she was still alive. I wish I had gotten it years ago so I could have treated her for years and years, but alas, I had no way of knowing because of my own ineptitude and indifference.)
The few times I received it years ago I had rather remarkable experiences from it. The very first time I received Reiki was during my first months of learning how to give massage around 1990. Two of my classmates got attunement and wanted to practice on me. I laid on a massage table and they simply put their hands on me and let the energy flow. I didn't know what to expect, but what I truly experienced happen after about 20 minutes was this feeling that their hands had melted into my chest and abdomen. The energy had caused our flesh to dematerialize and blend into "one body". It was a phenomenal perception. What the Reiki energy was doing inside of me on a healing basis I had no idea of, other than it was making me feel, oh so well, and loved.
Then I'll jump to the most recent, remarkable experience I had, just 2 weeks ago. I went to the free clinic that HCH in Lafayette gives once a month. This was the same session I brought my mom to last year. Turned out that the person that treated me was a former classmate of mine from another spiritual training center across town where we were being taught how to read, and heal auras. This treatment lasted for 15 minutes. I only remember her placing her hands on me in a few places. The crown of my head, the arms at my sides, and my feet. But what I felt was so powerful. First off, the sensations I felt in my head. It felt like the shape of my head was transforming. I felt my head slightly flatten in a way that pushed my ears out further. At the same time, the pressure that did that was being placed upon my third eye and this pressure made my actual eyes move their placement out to where my ears are. So my third eye was my main eye in the front center of my head, and my eyes became my ears. A week later, thinking back on this and looking at myself from the outside I saw that the shape my head had turned into looked just like how alien heads are portrayed to look to us! Was Reiki giving me a vision of my "alien self"? Or advancing my development into an alien being?
The other main feeling I got from this young woman's Reiki treatment was that my heart chakra was filled up with the most tangible sensations of love that I have felt in literally years. And that vibration stayed with me for at least 3 days before it faded away. THIS is what hooked me into believing that the power of Reiki was real and that now was the time for me to become attuned to it, and to begin living my life better so that I could also be one of it's vessels so that I could offer healing and hope to others.
So, for now, my work is to give myself Reiki as many times a day as I can so that it will do it's work healing myself. There are a lot of negative blocks in my energy field that need to be removed, and Reiki knows what they are, but it won't do the work without my nudging it along. It needs me to participate willingly in the process.
