Today was our first full day in Springfield and we used it to the max. Left the house around 10:30 to pick up our rental car at AVIS. They did not have the sub-compact car we requested so we got a free upgrade to this really sweet JEEP. The GPS I bought for this trip has already proved invaluable in saving time of finding addresses and getting reacquainted with Springfield. I've driven here before but it's been 25 years since my last visit at the time of my step father's funeral in '91. Our first destination after picking up the car was a buffet restaurant where we have this very rich midwestern cuisine. I can't help but say that I felt a little sick after eating it and also that I can see how it has become fact that Americans are suffering from an obesity explosion. It was only $6.95 for an all you can eat lunch in this restaurant that served very hi-caloric dishes. Oh my god, and the desert section? There must have been 10-15 different types of cakes, pies, bread ...

Today is the first day of my vacation to Chicago. It is not really a vacation but more of an excursion. I actually think it is something that spirit has organized for me to go through in dealing with issues of growth and healing. God I sound so new age-ist! It is a working trip; we wouldn't be making this trip if it weren't for an old client of my mom's hiring us to come take care of their pets while THEY go on a vacation, but there are deeper things going on. Our first stop on this trip is the hometown of my mother; Springfield, Ohio. We are here now. We arrived at the Columbus Airport around 9pm this evening and we were picked up by the man who was my father's best friend/best man; I think he is actually my god-father. And now we are in their home for the next three days. Already a world of being in a different place is greeting me full on and I hope I don't have a nervous breakdown or start to hallucinate or have shaktipat-like experiences while we are here. ...

why i continue to try to inspire those suffering from humanity to do things differently, i do not know. i have mentioned before my tres amigos that i have known from high school days. that is 30 years+ that these friendships have endured; even if the connections have eroded to somewhat dismal conditions now. i've got a bug in my butt about making a difference in the world though, and even though the spectre of 50 years of life is hovering over our bodies - i want to make one last stab at helping these fellas. when we were teenagers i found a way to make my life different and led two of these fellas to follow the path i was taking. the other fella probably found this path on his own (at least i think he is too proud or sullen to admit that i could have influenced his decision to follow the Xrist). anyway, these three have followed the Xrist into lifes of boring complacency. and now i think it is time to wake them from that slumber. i now this is all sounding like nonsense, especiall...
