just a quick note... FRIDAY NIGHT FAILURE

I really do hate STARBUTZ. Really I do. I came down to my favorite BUTZ in Danville tonight (at 7pm) expecting to have 3 full hours to work on my writing. I have that creepy short story that I started recently that I want to fill out some and was all inspired to work on it. I even borrowed my mom's nice laptop to use, thinking that I'd give you all a wonderful webcam show because her computer is faster and more powerful than mine. So what happens but I get there and cannot connect to the Internet. When I was here a couple of days ago the connection was really flakey; it kept dropping off. And no one that works in the cafe knows anything about how the computer hardware works. I told them something was not right. So tonight I call T-Mobile and decide to wait thru till the end to get this problem solved. Folks, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes combined waiting on hold and talking to people very thick in the head who in the end could do nothing but refer the problem to higher-ups to h...

to funk or not to funk...

This is a difficult blog for me to write because I have not been as frank as this in quite some time, especially since I’ve had so many new readers. I sank into a funk when I came home from L.A. and I wasn’t really expecting that to happen. Not an emotional funk at least. I thought that maybe there would be physical fatigue to deal with, especially on Monday morning but this was different. This is a deeper funk and one of the main elements is love funkiness. When we read about or see characters in films that haven’t had a girl friend in three years everyone says to themselves, “Oh he has got to be horny.” Well, I’ve been without a girl friend for longer than that and yes, I crave a physical connection with someone but it is not something that I must have to survive. Ok, already this post is going way in directions I did not want it to. See, this is part of the problem with blogging. People want sound bites and I don’t write sound bites. I write how I think and this entry is mo...

Finally, serious peace developments in Northern Ireland...

clipped from www.nytimes.com Northern Ireland Rivals Reach Deal BELFAST, Northern Ireland, March 26 — After years of mutual hostility and recrimination, the leaders of Northern Ireland’s dominant rival groups, Sinn Fein’s Gerry Adams and the Protestant leader, the Rev. Ian Paisley, met today for their first face-to-face talks and agreed to form a joint administration for the province on May 8. The deal was hailed by Britain and Ireland as a historic breakthrough, more than four years after Northern Ireland’s local government was suspended in October, 2002, after a dispute over espionage activities by the Irish Republican Army. Ian Paisley, left, and Gerry Adams announced the breakthrough while sitting side by side, a first, in the Stormont Parliament building in Belfast.

Weekend Update!

Ok, I'm home now and have filled in some of the details on the earlier photos I had emailed in via my phonecam. So come on by and read back to hear more juicy gossip. Also, be sure to click on the Flickr icon on the sidebar to go see all of the photos I have uploaded from my trip. I haven't put titles, descriptions, or tags on ALL of the photos yet but there are some. So comment, ask questions, whatever and I'll let you know everything!

My wild weekend comes to a close. The first "anything like a vacation" I have taken since my last girl friend Deirdre paid for me to fly to L.A. to see her back in 1998. And this was one vacation I'll never forget. Alan treated me to all expenses and we did things that only he and I could ever imagine doing with another person. We are quite a pair.
